A mosaic of found footage miniatures from Guangzhou, China: A man is lying in
front of a car, bargaining with the driver who he claims has hit him, someone
picks a cockroach from a bowl of noodles, police raid a shop that is selling
bear paws, a shirtless man is threatening to jump from a bridge while another
shirtless man is dancing on a busy road. Dozens of pigs have escaped from a
truck and are roaming the highway, people are sitting on top of their car in a
flooded street, others are trying to catch fish, a building is burning in the
distance. Pedestrians find an abandoned baby in a pile of trash, a man is
parading a crocodile, police are towing trucks with fake license plates and a
routine arrest turns into a slow motion mass brawl. Some of these scenes are
unexpectedly funny, half of them may appear shocking, yet most of them remain
profoundly absurd, and if you are looking for a plausible panorama of an Asian
metropolis in the era of globalization, there is no need to look any further.
